Frequently Asked Questions

Hello! After a few years of rentals, we’ve found that our guests - especially those who are new to Harbour Island - commonly ask the same questions. In order to streamline our response, we’ve distilled our most common questions about the house and island. Most of these can be answered by reading through our Renter’s Guide, but if reading isn’t your thing or you’re quickly looking for an answer to a common question, then this page is for you. Of course, we’re always available for answers that aren’t found here, or elaboration on anything below.

Do I need to rent a golf cart?

Yes, renting a golf cart is necessary to get around Harbour Island. You can contact Conch & Coconut for your golf cart needs. Click here for their current golf cart options. We highly recommend booking a golf cart rental as soon as possible, especially in the late winter and spring months. The island has been known to run out of golf carts before and, while we enjoy walking around, that would not be a fun experience for a full week.

Do you provide towels and beach supplies?

Yes, we have stacks of beach/pool towels. We also have several portable beach chairs. In addition, we have built a permanent beach umbrella, just look for the Sea Star sign right off the beach path!

How do I get to Sea Star, and what do I need to do to get in the house?

You can refer to our Renter’s Guide for instructions on getting to the house. Once you’ve arrived, the front gate should be unlocked. Enter the property and the house keys should be on the kitchen counter inside the Main House. Sometimes our housekeeping staff will be on property to greet you. The WiFi network is called Sea Starlink and the password is simply: coconuts

How do I get reservations for dinner? Where are your favorite dinner spots for casual and fine dining?

Each restaurant is different with their reservation process. Most require an email which can generally be found on their website. Some restaurants also require a deposit or credit card to hold your reservation.

Fine Dining

  • The Landing Restaurant

  • The Dunmore

  • Malcolm 51 at The Pink Sands Resort

  • Thai’d at Runaway Hill

  • Acquapazza at Romora Bay

Casual Dining

  • Sunset’s at Romora Bay

  • DaVine Sushi

  • Queen Conch

  • The Rooster Tail Bar at Valentine’s Marina

Will Sip Sip ever open back up?

Unfortunately, Sip Sip’s old location was sold to a buyer who intends to make it into a private home. We’ve heard no indication that Sip Sip’s owners will reopen on Harbour Island any time soon. They do have a small location at The Cove in Atlantis but we’ve never been there and have no idea how close it is to the original.

If you’re missing the drinks, Ms. V, who you might remember, has a beachside bar just below the old Sip Sip location. She has a number of cocktails and rental beach chairs.

How can I hire a private chef to cook at the house?

This question should really be at the top because it’s our #1 most frequently asked question. We have partnered with Chef Vernon Neely who works primarily at Acquapazza. He has an extensive catering menu with prices ranging between $120-250 per person. He will come to the house, serve an appetizer, entree, and dessert for dinner, and clean everything up including wrapping leftovers. Chef Vernon requires a down payment to hold your date for dinner. You can contact him on WhatsApp at (242) 559-3842 and tell him you’re staying at Sea Star. Reserving him earlier is always best as it’s very difficult to book him within about a week of your desired night.

Are dogs allowed at Sea Star?

The best answer to this question is: almost never. We’ve made exceptions in the past but those exceptions come with a long list of rules and additional financial considerations. In general, you should assume that dogs are not allowed. There are other dog friendly houses on Harbour Island and we recommend looking at those if bringing your dog is a deal breaker.

Is the pool heated?

Yes, we do have a pool heater. However, due to the exorbitant cost of electricity on the island, we charge $100 per day to heat the pool. Please let us know if you’d like the pool to be heated. Generally, the pool doesn’t need to be heated during the late Spring and Summer months.

Do you have a generator for the house?

Yes, we have a 40kW diesel generator which comes on automatically in the event of a power outage. However, a power outage might cause the loss of internet access for a period of time ranging from 10 seconds to a few minutes. Please refer to our Renter’s Guide for further information on our internet service.

We’d like to go out fishing, or do a boat charter for a half day, which services do you recommend?

We recommend Conch & Coconut for your boating and watersport needs, especially for full- or half-day charters. Click here for their current list of experiences. For fishing, there’s nobody better than the legendary Devon Sawyer, famously known as Daddy D and owner of the eponymous nightclub on Harbour Island. Devon can be reached on Instagram at @daddydsnightclub or on WhatsApp at (242) 359-7006.
